Bollywood film industry is known all over the world and movies of Bollywood are seen and its fans will be found in every corner of the whole world. Well, Horror Genre is a hard genre to work with especially in Indian cinema. While Bollywood is not much famous for its horror films yet Hindi horror movies have got a wideband following among the Bollywood lovers. Psychological horror movies will be very less in number because most directors trust blood, gore, and paranormal activities to bring the horrific details live on screen. Many directors became popular for working in this style. Most popular among them are the Ramsey brothers. However later in the 00s several other directors have worked and got critical acclaim for their work in the fear genre. Ram Gopal Verma and Vikram Bhatt are a few well-known names. Here I had made a list of the Most Popular Bollywood Horror Movies. These horror films are selected on the base of their impact on pop history and their cult following.

Pari

Pari, a very scary film, and the film was released in 2007, in this film a man tries to help a woman named Rukhsana,

You are going to have a lot of fun after watching this film alone in the dark night.

Horror Story

Horror Story is one of the known interesting horror movies of Bollywood which was published in the year 2013. Seven boys killed one night at a haunted hotel and the structure of the story turns around this much only.

Raaz Reboot

Raaz Reboot was released in 2016 and we saw Emraan Hashmi as a rather cynical character. This was the fourth part of the film Raaz and it also starred Gaurav Arora, Kriti Kharbanda. The fourth part was about human infirmities, secrets, and also occultism.

Vastu Shastra

This movie was directed by Ram Gopal Varma in 2004. This story is about a creator and his family who go to an old house at a distant location. This old house has an antique and plentiful mysterious tree in its neighborhood. Sometime later his son finds out some stranger things occurring in the home. But no one took him dangerously, which turns into a scary ordeal for the family. This is also involved in our list of best Bollywood Horror Movies

Darwaza

Darwaza is an absolute stress-buster in the title of ‘Horror’. This Movie, in fact, gave birth to this new genré film which can be termed ‘comic horror’. Honestly, this film was blank but hype. From what my parents told me the producers had announced a cash award for whoever watches this movie in the theater singly. And one person who did try acing it died of cardiac prevention. Legend has it that he fell of laughter Lol.

100 Days

100 Days is a mystery-thriller having dark factors. Though the film is a remake, it is well adjusted for the Hindi-speaking public. The film has its importance and genuinely takes the audience to the edge of their seats. Bollywood Horror Movies are made differently. One you can view from a change.

Dobaara

Do you remember the popular Hollywood film Oculus? Where does a brother-sister duo decide to get rid of an evil mirror who made their parents mad and spend their lives one-by-one? Well, Dobaara is the Hindi dubbed film of the original Oculus. This film will star the real-life brother-sister duo,  Saqib Saleem, and Huma Qureshi.

Kuchh To Hai

There was once a time when Anurag Basu directed movies starring Esha Deol, Tusshar Kapoor, and that says a lot regarding the kind of movies Bollywood was playing at the time. The clear copy of I Know What You Did Last Season where a mysterious killer is killing a group of friends, the film attempts really hard to panic but that’s all it does…try.

20 Saal Baad

Based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s ‘The Hound Of Baskerville, this Bollywood horror movie had Biswajeet and Waheeda Rehman romancing amidst remembered lines by Hemant Kumar. Bees Saal Baad is regarded as one of the highest grosses in 1962.

Darna Mana Hai

Darna Mana Hai brought freshness in the cliché fueled hatred style. It is an anthology that effectively combines horror factors. The movie justifies applause for its innovative storytelling and cohesive story.

Ragini MMS

After the success of Ragini MMS 1st part, Ragini MMS part 2 starred the gorgeous Sunny Leone. This film was published in 2014. A movie is being set in a frequented house and the team anyhow disturbs the evil spirit of the home and then begins the haunted journey.

1920

Well, I know that I said Vikram Bhatt reduces the horror style with erotica, but it is not the case with 1920. He manages to bring in a real freshness to the circumstances. The movie has an appealing screenplay. The cinematography is minimum and effective. Overall, an appealing Bollywood horror movie.

Ek Thi Daayan

In the year 2013, we saw the release of the hit movie Ek Thi Daayan. This movie definitely kept us thoroughly entertained and also made us fear each and every moment of it. The enormous acting by Konkana Sen and her hauntingly lovely long black braid, Imran Hashmi, Kalki Koechlin, Huma Qureshi, everyone gave their best shot and made this film a sure shot hit.

Do Gaz Zameen Ke Neeche

The Ramsay brothers debuted with this horror flick which had a wife killing her partner for her ex-lover only for the man to return as a zombie after being beaten. Does Gaz Zameen Ke Neeche become a leader of sorts for upcoming Bollywood horror movies as it went on to become a box office success?

Purana Mandir

Yet a different horror flick from the Ramsay brothers who yet again came up with a haunting tale of a princess who has been targeted by evil to seek vengeance. Purana Mandir had Arti Gupta, Mohnish Bahl in the front and was very successful at the ticket windows.

Phoonk

This is the story of Rajiv, a system engineer who doesn’t believe in God and malevolent spirits. In his past, he fired some workers from his company. Then they took vengeance by black sorcery. Both films revolve around the story of Rajiv and his family and mostly centered on black magic that appeared on Raksha (Rajiv’s daughter).

13B

A family recently moved to an apartment 13B. Soon after they shifted here, they started encountering something totally unfamiliar. The family views a daily soap on the TV and surprisingly the regular soap is the prequel of what is continuing to happen to their family.

Bhoot

The story is about a couple who moves into a new flat which was inhabited by a spirit. Some strange issues that cannot be described happen with his wife, which drives her crazy and wild. Then the husband starts to find ways to protect her partner from the spirit and also his marriage. This movie has not a particular song and is one of the best Bollywood horror films.

Raaz

Vikram Bhatt’s Raaz was inspired by the Michelle Pfeiffer starred What Couches Beneath. Though Vikram narrated it in his personal way Raaz had enough scary times to keep the audiences on the beach. Raaz starred Bipasha Basu and Dino Morea in the lead roles and consequently went on to become permission with sequels to follow.

Raat

Ram Gopal Verma’s Raat was a paranormal thriller, which operated to scare the public to the core. A rip-off of the Hollywood horror classic Exorcist, Raat too dealt with a young lady, Revathy who happens to be controlled by the spirit of a dead kitten. Though Raat didn’t earn much on release but went on to become a cult horror standard of the ’90s.
